On-Site Guidance

Most Common Non-Conformances

Uisce Éireann’s Field Engineering team has compiled an Information Sheet, highlighting the Non-Conformances which they encounter most frequently, when carrying out Quality Assurance (QA) on Self Lay Housing Developments. This document is a non-exhaustive list, and currently contains 14 Non-Conformances. For each Non-Conformance we have provided a short description with accompanying images, to explain how compliant and non-compliant designs look for each item.

We hope that this document will act as a helpful guide, highlighting the challenges that can arise during the QA process, and how best they can be avoided. However please note, it is important to always refer to Uisce Éireann Standard Details and Codes of Practice for comprehensive guidelines and specifications.  In cases of uncertainty or specific queries, we strongly advise you engage with your dedicated CDS Field Engineer.

Toolbox Talks

Uisce Éireann has prepared a library of Toolbox Talks to provide support to the development industry who are involved in the construction of water and wastewater services which are connecting into IUisce Éireann networks.

The Toolbox Talks provide a summary of key pieces of information for the workforce involved in the construction of Self-Lay connections. They outline Uisce Éireann's requirements for common activities and are complimentary to the water and wastewater Standard Details and Codes of Practice.

The Toolbox Talks cover both water and wastewater and some of them, i.e. TT1, TT5 and TT6 can be applied to both water and wastewater.

  • Submit Your Commencement Notice at least 14 days in advance of commencing your Self-Lay Works. (words 'commencement notice' can be a link to the document itself)
  • Request your Pre Commencement Site meeting. You can request this by sending an email to developerscheduling@water.ie. Please note, you must provide a minimum of 10 days notice for this meeting.
