Essential night-time outage required in Trim
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Meath County Council, advise customers in Trim that essential night-time restrictions are required tonight to help Brayhill reservoir levels recover. These restrictions are necessary following a mechanical issue at Trim Water Treatment Plant. Works are ongoing to resolve the mechanical issue which is impacting one treatment stream. Other treatment streams are working effectively, however the production capacity has been reduced.
To help reservoir levels recover and maintain a sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during normal working hours, water supply will be turned off from 10pm tonight, Thursday 11 November until 5am tomorrow morning. The need for restrictions is being reviewed on a daily basis by Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council. The following locations may be impacted by disruption to their supply; Trim; Knightsbrook; Scurlockstown; Effernock; Carberstown; Blackfriary; Crowpark; Clonbun; Rathmolyon; Summerhill and surrounding areas.
Typically it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
Speaking about the restrictions, Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann said: "Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience these restrictions may cause. The night-time restrictions are necessary to ensure a daily water supply is available for residents and businesses for hygiene and other essential purposes. We are continuing to work to resolve the issues at the plant so that the plant can operate at full production capacity and we will continue to provide updates as the works progress. During the day time, we are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on the Conservation section of our website."
