Essential night-time restrictions lifted in Clonakilty, Co. Cork
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
Night-time water restrictions in place in Clonakilty and surrounding areas have been lifted. Uisce Éireann will continue to monitor water levels and ensure that customers are updated should any further restrictions be required.
These restrictions were necessary due to a marked deterioration in the quality of the raw water supply and associated operational issues following Sunday’s status orange weather warning. The measures were put in place to ensure sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during daytime hours.
Uisce Éireann thanks customers for their patience during the restrictions and especially for their efforts to conserve water.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, on Facebook and LinkedIn and through our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.

Previous Updates
Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Clonakilty and surrounding areas that night-time restrictions are in place from 11.30pm tonight to 6.30am, tomorrow October 1 in order to maintain a daytime supply. In particular, high ground areas will experience a reduction in pressure and flow during the restrictions.
Speaking about the restrictions, Uisce Éireann’s Niall O’Riordan said “These restrictions are required due to a marked deterioration in the quality of the raw water supply and associated operational issues following yesterday’s status orange weather warning. The measures are being put in place to ensure sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during daytime hours. We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause and want to thank the community for their understanding. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.”
Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage and conserve water to allow supply to catch up with demand. Customers can find useful water saving tips on the water conservation section of this website. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.
