Essential night time works due to take place in Ashbourne
Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Meath County Council to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in Ashbourne. Essential night-time works are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 19 May in order to facilitate connection works to the newly installed water main. These works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice.
These works will be delivered between 9:00pm on Wednesday, 19 May and 6:00am on Thursday, 20 May.
During this time customers in the following locations may experience lower than normal water pressure and in some instances intermittent water outages; Castle Street, Crestwood Avenue, Crestwood Road, Crestwood Green, Crestwood Avenue, Crestwood Park, Bourne Avenue, Bourne View, Arkle Hill, Deerpark, Wafre Lodge, Alderbrook Rise, Alderbrook Downs, Alderbrook Road, Broadmeadow Road, Tara Lawns, Cherry Lane, The Briars, Baldara Court, Hickey's Lane, Ashbourne and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann is encouraging customers to conserve water while these essential repairs are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
When works are complete it will take up to 3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
Speaking about the works, Liam Henry, Uisce Éireann said, "We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Meath County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of this work is an essential to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas ensuring a safer more sustainable water supply into the future."
Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
The latest updates on these works will be available on the Supply and Service Updates section of our website.
