Improved water supply for Casla
Works scheduled to begin this week
The evenings are getting longer, the days are getting warmer and Casla can also look forward to an improved water supply this Spring.
Working in partnership with Galway County Council, Uisce Éireann is progressing with the delivery of a significant upgrade to the water supply in Doire Né, Casla. The delivery of this project will help to provide a safer and more secure water supply for local customers while also supporting future growth.
Works will involve the replacement of over 200m of old damaged water mains along the R343 between Casla and the Leitir Móir junction to provide a secure, safe and robust water supply. The project, which is being carried out by Farrans Construction under Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, is scheduled to begin this week and is expected to be completed by June.
To facilitate the safe delivery of these works, some traffic management may be necessary to include a stop/go system, however, local and emergency access will be maintained. Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council understand that this type of work may be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works may cause.
Gerry O'Donnell, Water Network Programme Lead with Uisce Éireann, said: "These works are part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to safeguard the water supply across Galway and we are delighted to progress this important project in Casla. The new water mains will improve the reliability of water supply for the local community. Uisce Éireann is committed to providing a safe, secure and sustainable source of drinking water for our customers and this important project will have significant long-term benefits for the area."
Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council will make every effort to maintain normal supply to our customers throughout the delivery of these vital works. Some short-term water interruptions may be necessary, however, the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned interruptions.

Tagann tús nua agus soláthar uisce feabhsaithe leis an earrach do Chasla
Tá na tráthnónta ag éirí níos faide, tá na laethanta ag éirí níos teo agus is féidir le Casla a bheith ag súil le feabhas ar an gcáilíocht uisce an t-Earrach seo freisin.
Ag obair i gcomhpháirtíocht le Comhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe, tá uasghrádú suntasach á dhéanamh ag Uisce Éireann ar an soláthar uisce i nDoire Né, Casla. Cuideoidh soláthar an tionscadail sin le soláthar uisce níos sábháilte agus níos sláine a sholáthar do chustaiméirí áitiúla agus tacaíocht á tabhairt d'fhás amach anseo.
Is éard a bheidh i gceist leis na hoibreacha ná os cionn 200m de shean-príomhlíonra uisce damáiste a athsholáthar ar feadh an R343 idir Casla agus acomhal Leitir Móir chun soláthar uisce slán, sábháilte agus láidir a chur ar fáil. Tá sé beartaithe go gcuirfear tús leis an tionscadal, atá á dhéanamh ag Farrans Construction faoi Chlár náisiúnta um Laghdú Ligin Uisce Éireann,an tseachtain seo agus táthar ag súil go mbeidh sé críochnaithe faoi mhí an Mheithimh.
Chun soláthar sábháilte na n-oibreacha sin a éascú, d'fhéadfadh sé go mbeadh gá le roinnt bainistíocht tráchta chun córas stoptha/gluais a chur san áireamh. Coinneofar rochtain áitiúil agus éigeandála, áfach. Tuigeann Uisce Éireann agus Comhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe go bhféadfadh an cineál sin oibre a bheith mí-oiriúnach agus déanfaidh na buíonta oibreacha a seacht ndícheall aon chur isteach a d'fhéadfadh a bheith mar thoradh ar na hoibreacha riachtanacha sin a íoslaghdú.
Dúirt Gerry O'Donnell, Ceann an Chláir Líonra Uisce le Uisce Éireann: "Tá na hoibreacha sin mar chuid d'infheistíocht shuntasach arna déanamh ag Uisce Éireann chun an soláthar uisce ar fud na Gaillimhe a chosaint agus tá lúcháir orainn an tionscadal tábhachtach seo a chur chun cinn i gCasla. Leis an bpríomhlíonra uisce nua cuirfear feabhas ar iontaofacht an tsoláthair uisce don phobal áitiúil. Tá Uisce Éireann tiomanta d'fhoinse uisce óil atá sábháilte, slán agus inbhuanaithe a sholáthar dár gcustaiméirí agus beidh tairbhí fadtéarmacha suntasacha ag baint leis an tionscadal tábhachtach seo don cheantar."
Déanfaidh Uisce Éireann agus Comhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe gach iarracht gnáthsholáthar a choinneáil dár gcustaiméirí le linn sholáthar na n-oibreacha ríthábhachtacha sin. D'fhéadfadh sé go mbeadh gá le roinnt bristeacha uisce sa ghearrthéarma, ach cinnteoidh an fhoireann tionscadail go dtabharfar fógra 48 uair an chloig ar a laghad do chustaiméirí roimh aon bhristeacha beartaithe.
Tá líne chúram custaiméirí Uisce Éireann ar oscailt 24/7 ar 1800 278 278 agus is féidir le custaiméirí a bhfuil ceisteanna ar bith acu dul i dteagmháil linn ar Twitter @IWCare. Le haghaidh nuashonruithe maidir le saincheisteanna an tsoláthair uisce phoiblí tabhair cuairt le bhur dtoil ar an roinn Nuashonruithe Soláthair Uisce.
Tá Uisce Éireann freagrach as seirbhísí uisce agus fuíolluisce poiblí uile in Éirinn a sheachadadh. Táimid tiomanta do bhonneagar criticiúil a uasghrádú agus a fhorbairt ar bhonn leanúnach chun tacú leis an bhfás atá riachtanach i dtithíocht agus ar fud ár ngeilleagair, agus an comhshaol á chosaint agus soláthairtí uisce á gcosaint.
