Planned interruption to water supply for customers in Moneymore, Drogheda

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Moneymore, Drogheda of a disruption to water supply from 9pm on Thursday, 16 January until 4am on Friday, 17 January to facilitate ongoing essential watermains replacement works.

The areas affected by the outage include Hardman Gardens, Sunday’s Gate, Church Street, Bóthar Bruga, Pearse Park, Sandyford Terrace, Magdalene Street, Rope Walk and surrounding areas in Moneymore. Up to 3,000 customers may be impacted by water interruptions and low pressure.

Uisce Éireann’s Declan Healy said: “Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation. Following the completion of the works, it can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on high ground or at the end of the network.

Since 2018, Uisce Éireann has invested more than €500 million to upgrade the underground water network across the country through the delivery of the national Leakage Reduction Programme. Uisce Éireann is investing a further €250 million every year up to the end of 2030 – fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply. Uisce Éireann is on target to reduce the national rate of leakage to 25% by 2030, from a high point of 46% in 2018.
