Planned interruption to water supply for some customers in Drogheda
Part of Uisce Éireann’s Leakage Reduction Programme to strengthen the water network in the area
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Moneymore, Drogheda of a disruption to water supply from 9pm on 7 October until 5am on 8 October to facilitate ongoing essential watermains replacement works.
The areas affected by the outage include; Hardman’s Gardens, Patrick Street and Sandyford Terrace, Moneymore, Drogheda and surrounding areas. Customers may be impacted by water interruptions and low pressure.
Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation. Following the completion of the works, please allow time for water pressure to return to normal. It can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network.
These works will be carried out under Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme, which helps provide a more reliable water supply to Irish communities by reducing high levels of leakage and improving water quality. Since 2018 more than €500 million has been invested in the programme and the upgrading of the underground network across the country. Uisce Éireann is also investing a further €250 million annually up to the end of 2030 directed at fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
