Uisce Éireann improvement works see two Tipperary water supplies removed from ‘at risk’ list

Uisce Éireann customers in Tipperary will welcome the recent news that both the Nenagh and Thurles Regional Water Supplies have been removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) list of vulnerable water supplies.
The Coolbawn water treatment plant which serves over 15,000 customers across Nenagh, Silvermines, Portroe, Gortgarry, Puckaun, Urra, Dromineer, Toomevara, Dolla, and Newtown was upgraded to provide a more robust and resilient disinfection system.
While the Thurles water treatment plant serving 13,000 customers across Thurles, Ballycahill, Littleton, Horse & Jockey, Holycross, Bouladuff, Dovea, Borrisoleigh and Drom underwent upgrades to process controls to ensure continued delivery of a safe and reliable water supply for local homes and businesses.
Pat Duggan, Regional Drinking Water Compliance Manager at Uisce Éireann is proud of the team effort to deliver the works and have the supply removed from the EPA’s Remedial Action List (RAL).

Pat continued, “It has been an important milestone to complete the works to ensure the continued provision of a safe and reliable water supply for approximately 28,000 people across the wider Thurles and Nenagh areas. With the works now complete this ensures the continued delivery of safe, clean drinking water to local homes and businesses.”
