Uisce Éireann investment in Drumsna will deliver improved supply for customers

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann crews will be arriving in Drumsna next week and bringing with them the promise of a more reliable water supply for the Leitrim community.

More than 500 metres of old concrete water mains in the village’s Main Street will be replaced by the end of Spring as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

These important works will not only give local homes and businesses more confidence in their supply, but the new pipework will put an end to leakage of treated water into the ground.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager Patricia Lowry is looking forward to delivering the project for customers in Drumsna.

This work will bring a range of benefits for our customers in the area including reliability of supply and improved water quality. It will also help us achieve our 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25%. The National Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018, when the leakage rate stood at 46%.”

Crews will be carrying out this water main replacement project at Main Street, Drumsna and at the R299 (Main Street junction to Oak Meadows junction).

Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned interruptions.

Traffic management in the form of traffic lights will be in place and locals can be assured that access for local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
