Water mains replacement in Celbridge and Newcastle welcome news for local communities

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is delighted to confirm that site investigation works will soon commence as part of the replacement of 5.2km of old water mains between Newcastle, Co Dublin and Celbridge, Co Kildare. These essential works are part of a significant investment programme by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network in Celbridge and Newcastle, prioritising investment where it is needed most and enabling these communities to thrive.

Uisce Éireann can confirm the projected timeline for the works is as follows:

  • Site investigation works are due to get underway shortly in the Celbridge area and will take approximately four to six weeks to complete.
  • The pipelaying works are then scheduled to commence in Summer 2025.

We are happy to clarify the works schedule following on from our earlier communications in relation to this project. GMC Utilities Group is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this project.

These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme. This project will provide a more reliable water supply to customers and local businesses in the area with less disruption due to bursts and high level of leakage.
