Water supply issue for customers in Tuam
Crews are working to resolve issues caused by a pump failure at Knocknacarrigeen Reservoir
Uisce Éireann and Galway County Council wish to advise customers supplied by the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme that we are working to resolve issues caused by a pump failure at Knocknacarrigeen Reservoir. The areas affected are Claregalway, Corofin and Annaghdown and a large number of Group Water Schemes supplied from the Tuam Regional supply. Some customers are experiencing outages while we carry out repairs as quickly and safely as possible in line with COVID-19 restrictions.
Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are expected to be completed by 1pm today. Typically it takes five to seven hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
Uisce Éireann's Asset Operations Lead for Galway, Tim O'Connor explains: "Technical staff are working to carry out repairs as a result of a pump failure at Knocknacarrigeen Reservoir. Having identified the issue we immediately dispatched crews to carry out emergency repairs. These repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore water for all customers.
"We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
