Water supply issues impacting Castlecoote Roscommon after Storm Éowyn

As a result of high winds during Storm Éowyn, Uisce Éireann customers in Castlecoote and surrounding areas in Co Roscommon are experiencing a disruption to their water supply. 

Uisce Éireann crews are on the ground across the county, including Castlecoote, assessing the full impact of the storm and are working to ensure all customers have a normal water supply.

In the meantime, an alternative water supply is available for customers at O’Farrell’s Mill, Castlecoote from 5-7pm this evening (Friday) and 10am-12 noon tomorrow (Saturday). 

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive. 

“Due to the severity of the storm, Uisce Éireann had activated its emergency response processes, including deploying generators at key sites where power outages were likely,” explained Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally.

“We are working closely with the ESB to return power to key water services sites as quickly as possible. When power is restored, it will take time for the network to fill and for water supplies to be fully restored,”.

In the event of a loss of supply, most properties should have adequate storage in their attic tanks for hygiene purposes for at least 24 hours.
