Works currently underway at Ballyboden Water Treatment Plant
Uisce Éireann is currently undertaking ground works at Ballyboden Water Treatment Plant to protect the health and safety of local residents due to a risk of dangerous trees and branches falling into residents' properties.
Prior to the commencement of these works, Uisce Éireann consulted with an arborist who accessed that at least three of the trees at this location needed to be removed as they were at risk of falling into residents' gardens resulting in a risk to property and injury to residents.
The area itself is heavily overgrown and includes rubble and debris. The vegetation first has to be cleared, to allow access for the safe removal of these trees.
Once cleared, the remaining trees will be assessed and all healthy trees that do not pose a risk to residents will remain in place.
It is planned that the area will be enhanced as a wildflower/biodiversity zone, in line with Uisce Éireann's Biodiversity Action Plan, which is a national programme of measures to protect and enhance biodiversity across all Uisce Éireann sites.
