Alternative water supplies are being arranged

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is continuing to work to address supply interruptions and restore normal operations at Ardfinnan Water Treatment Plant following status orange weather warning.

Production at the Ardfinnan Water Treatment Plant has recommenced, however due to a burst watermain, the plant is operating at a reduced capacity. Uisce Éireann’s water services crews are working tirelessly to restore the water supply as quickly and as safely as possible to impacted customers.

While the majority of impacted customers will regain their supply late this evening, customers at higher elevations of the network are anticipated to not regain normal supply until Tuesday morning, 07 January. The impacted areas are High elevation areas in Ardfinnan and Grange.

Alternative water supplies are being arranged and will become available, tomorrow afternoon, Monday 06 January, in the form of bulk tankers, which can be accessed at Ardfinnan National School

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Colin Cunningham, Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann said, “We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused. We also want to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
