Works progress to upgrade the sewer network in Navan
Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Meath County Council to improve the sewer network in the Trimgate Street and Bakery Lane area of Navan. The delivery of this wastewater project will support existing and future residential and commercial development and will help to safeguard the environment by reducing the risk of wastewater overflows. Works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice.
Works involve the construction of approximately 45 metres of new sewer along Trimgate Street and Bakery Lane. Works are due to commence mid-October and are expected to be completed by mid-November 2021. These improvement works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction.
To facilitate the safe delivery of these works and minimise disruption to customers, works are scheduled to take place along Trimgate Street at night from Monday 11 October to Friday 15 October between 8:00pm and 6:00am. Remaining works along Bakery Lane are scheduled to be delivered from Monday 18 October until completion between 9:00am and 6:00pm daily. Works along Bakery Lane will require a lane closure. Traffic management will be in place with local and emergency access maintained at all times. Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council understand that this type of work may be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
Commenting on the project, Dave Murphy, Uisce Éireann said, "A sewer network that is fit for purpose is essential in order to support business and social development in the community. These works will support existing and future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the sewer network, helping to safeguard the environment. Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council regret any inconvenience these improvement works may cause"
