Works progress to upgrade the water network in Stamullen
Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Meath County Council to improve the water network in Stamullen. The delivery of this water project will support existing and future residential and commercial development and will help to provide a more reliable water supply to the community.
Works involve the installation of approximately 1.2 kilometres of new modern high-density polyethylene mains from Cock Hill Road to Silverstream Close. This new main will feed water into Stadalt pumping station helping to relieve current supply issues on the existing network. Works are due to commence in early November and are expected to be completed by the end of December 2021. Permanent reinstatement works are scheduled to be completed in early 2022. These improvement works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd.
To facilitate the safe delivery of these works and minimise disruption to customers, a road closure is required on the Silverstream Road from the Stadalt junction at Mountview to Silverstream Close from Monday 8 November to Monday 22 November. Traffic will be diverted via the R108 and L5618. Traffic management will be in place with local and emergency access maintained at all times. Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council will make every effort to maintain normal supply to all properties throughout these works however some short-term water interruptions may be necessary and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned interruptions. Standard working hours are between 8:00am and 6:00pm, with no work anticipated on Sundays or public holidays. Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council understand that this type of work may be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
Commenting on the project, Matt Thomson, Uisce Éireann said, "These works are vital to ensure a more secure water supply to homes and businesses in Stamullen and are part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to safeguard the water supply. These works will support existing and future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the network, helping to safeguard supply. Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council regret any inconvenience these improvement works may cause."
Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
