Works to improve the sewer network on Griffith Avenue and Malahide Road
Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Dublin City Council to improve the sewer network along Griffith Avenue and the Malahide Road. The delivery of this wastewater project will support existing and future residential and commercial development and will help to safeguard the environment by reducing the risk of wastewater overflows. The project is being delivered by GMC Utilities limited on behalf of Uisce Éireann. Uisce Éireann has made significant progress on the construction of a new sewer along Griffith Avenue and works on the Malahide Road are underway since Monday 27 September.
Commenting on the project, David Murphy, Uisce Éireann said, "A sewer network that is fit for purpose is essential in order to support business and social development in the community. These works will support existing and future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the sewer network, helping to safeguard the environment."
To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, traffic management plans are in place at both locations. A day time stop go system will operate while traffic lights will be operational during the evenings and weekends. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times. There will be further road closures in place for certain elements of the works and further notifications will be provided in advance.
Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
