Supply returning to customers in Elphin and Strokestown

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann has successfully completed repairs following operational issues at Grange Water Treatment Plant and normal water supply is returning to customers on the North East Regional Water Supply Scheme this morning.

The water treatment plant is back in production but as reservoir levels return to normal customers in Elphin and Strokestown may experience low pressure or supply disruptions over the course of the day. It may take some time for the supply to be restored fully for customers on higher ground and at the end of the network.

Water levels at outlying reservoirs of the scheme are low and will take a number of hours today to replenish. This will lead to reduced pressure for customers in Ballyleague, Kilglass, Termonbarry, Knockhall, Rooskey, Kilmore and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally thanked those affected for their patience while the operational issues were addressed.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support."

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply for customers on the North East Regional Water Supply Scheme following operational issues at Grange Water Treatment Plant.

This has resulted in reservoir levels depleting significantly and some customers in Elphin, Strokestown and surrounding areas are experiencing a disruption to the supply or low pressure this morning.

While works to resolve the issue continue alternative water supplies will be available from 2pm today at Elphin Tower and at Main Street, Strokestown. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per Health Service Executive advice.

Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally explained that crews have been working throughout the night to resolve the issue.

We regret any inconvenience as a result of this issue and thank the local community for their patience as we continue to work this morning to restore normal supply.
