Works underway to secure water supply for customers supplied by the Lough Mourne Water Supply Scheme
Uisce Éireann is working with Donegal County Council to repair a leak to the water main supplying Lough Mourne Water Treatment Plant to ensure supply over the Christmas period and minimise impact due to ongoing night time restrictions at Raphoe Convoy, Blairstown, Magheraboy, Carnone and Meenahoney. Whilst every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, the leak repair may impact the water supply to homes and businesses in the following areas: Ballybofey, Stranorlar, Killygordon, Liscooley, Lifford, St. Johnston, Convoy, Raphoe and surrounding areas.
Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed by 5pm this afternoon. These works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
Kevin Love, Uisce Éireann, commented: "The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible."
