Castletown Water Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Louth County Council is upgrading the water network at Castletown, Dundalk to support future growth and development in the area. 

These works involve upgrading and upsizing 1.7km of water mains at Toberona Road, Bellews Bridge Road and Mill Road. 

This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing water network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

The works are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd. and are expected to be completed by summer 2024.

• Supporting social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
• Improving the water network - This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services.
• Providing a more resilient water supply - This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.

All watermain installation works along Toberona Road, Bellews Bridge Road and Mill Road have been completed.

Reinstatement works will commence on Monday, 15 July and are anticipated to take 1 week to complete. GMC Utilities Group are carrying out these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Lane closures will be in place at Toberona Road and Bellews Bridge Road. A road closure will be in place at Mill Road, from the junction at Bellews Bridge Road to the junction at Castletown road. A road closure is necessary at this location as the road is not sufficiently wide to allow a safe flow of traffic around the works area. Diversion routes are via Bellews Bridge Road and Castletown Road R934 or alternatively via Castletown Road R934, N53, Deerpark to Brid a Crinn L-7128, Stumpa L-7114-59 and Tateetra L-7111. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
