Goatstown Road Sewer Network Improvement Project
Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is upgrading the wastewater sewer network in the Goatstown Road area to support the environmental, social and economic development of the area.
Uisce Éireann working in partnership with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is undertaking essential works to upgrade the wastewater network in the Goatstown Road area.
These works will involve construction of new gravity sewers along Goatstown Road in two phases. Phase 1 from Larchfield Road to Our Ladys Grove Primary School was completed May 2021. Phase 2 from the Goatstown Road cross roads junction to Larchfield Road is due to commence at the end of June 2021.
This project is being delivered to improve the capacity of the existing sewers to support future development within the community. GMC Utilities Limited are working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this improvement project.
Uisce Éireann is working proactively with our delivery partners and as part of a multi-agency working group to ensure that our construction works are carried out in a controlled and safe manner, in keeping with Government and HSE guidelines to protect workers, their families and the broader community.
What is involved as part of this project?
This project involves:
- Phase 1 - The construction of approximately 0.2km of new gravity sewer from Larchfield Road to Our Ladys Grove Primary School
- Phase 2 - The construction of approximately 0.8km of new gravity sewer from the Goatstown Road cross roads junction to Larchfield Road
Programme of works
The works on the first phase of delivery along the Goatstown Road were completed May 2021. The works on the second phase of delivery from the Goatstown Road cross roads junction to Larchfield Road are due to commence at the end of June and are expected to be completed in Autumn 2021.
To minimise disruption during construction a phased approach will be taken. Areas of work will be limited to short sections to limit the impact on the local community.
Standard working hours are between 8am and 6pm, with only a requirement to work over one weekend in the early stage of this delivery.
Traffic management will be in place during the works in the form of a manned stop/go system. To deliver the works safely there is also a requirement to close the cycle lane on the Goatstown Road in the area of the works for the duration of the project. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
We understand that this type of works can be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
What are the benefits?
The works carried out as part of this project will:
- Facilitate future growth in the local area
- Bring benefits in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality
